Montreal to Toronto: Cheapest place to gas up?
I'll be driving to Toronto this week and wanted to know where the best place would be to gas up on the way.
Obviously, I don't want to veer too far from the 401 and hopefully I'll only need to stop once.

Brockville, is not a service center, but very close to 401, like 1-2 light away.

Depending on the car will determine if you need to stop more then once on you're trip. How many KM's do you get per tank usually?

I agree. Within Brockville, take 29 South Road - head north up 29 South Rd (aka: Steward St). Go up 3 street lights at Ultimar gas station. Or, simply price any gas station by its Tim Hortons (29 South / aka: Steward St). Simply and short distance.

I drive a Mazda 3 (55 liter tank that gets about 8L/100 highway KM's).
I seem to recall getting a good deal at a Loblaws gas bar along the 401 a few years back, but I don't remember where that was or if if it's still the best place to fill up?

Coburg, I think its exit 472 or 474 definitely cheaper than Flying J. I think its a Petro canada.

I make a 401 trip frequently enough. Last week flying J @ napanee was 1.41 and in the last few months it has been very high. I found that trenton in town has been pretty good. I use ottawagasprices.com and from there you can choose different cities along the way... brockville kingston cobourg ect.. (ontariogasprices.com may work too)
I find everything flucuates so frequently that you just have to check on the day you intend to buy gas.

And, on the way back to Montreal, tank up in Lancaster just before you hit the Quebec border.

Cornwall. But this is a Toronto -> Montreal trip. Works perfect when leaving on a full tank. Then spend the next few days in Montreal without filling up on their expensive gas.

Just got back from TO. Brockville is indeed the cheapest place along the route (a quick check on ontariogasprices.com bears this out).
I eneded up going to the Ultramar along Route 2, but it was the same price as the 2 Petro Canada's that are just off the highway). I used some Ultramar Mystery Coupons so it was worth it, but otherwise, I would recommend just going to PC to save some time.

Agreed about Flying J...used to be good but every time I drive by now it's ridiculously high!
Beware of the service stations that have closed down for renovations =) so it might not be a good idea to drive all the way until you're empty

Exit 472, not sure what the price was, was too lazy to exit on half a tank.
Uh, yeah, I'd like to speak to a Mr. Tabooger, first name Ollie.

I use 566 (cheapest - last weekend it was at 118 on both Friday and Monday), operated by Mohawk Indians.

I went to Montreal a couple of weeks ago and the cheapest gas is in Brockville. It is $118.9 for regular. Just paid $130 litre to gas up in Mississauga tonight.

Brockville used to be quite cheaper than GTA, but last time I went (Jan) it was the same price.
It's convenient for the stops, though. (restaurants, superstore, walmart)
Good to hear they're not gouging anymore.
Watch it level to the same rate as GTA come summer travelling season.
